The projected piece, Beginning, being made for the patronship project -- patronship.org , is a variation on the miniature Genesis. It exists as a limited edition of twenty, 7 x 7 inch, oil/mixed media paintings on hardboard. Each piece contains the same basic elements with each being a mirror in the design layout of the previous piece so that the paintings can function individually but also as a group, hanging in any direction and weaving a kind of grid like net. The cutout aluminum shape represents an icosahedron -- has a hexagonal outline when viewed from one side, which is a link between inorganic and organic matter, and a building block of life.

The idea of the piece is to serve as a kind of sign post reminding one that things are constantly changing: life arises again and again with each new moment. Each moment is a new beginning, followed by another new moment and another. To be aware of just this in our daily lives can bring great joy -- realizing this gift of the newness of life that is always before us.
